How To Prepare For Dublin’s St.Patrick’s Day Parade

St.Patrick’s Day is one of the most celebrated holidays in Ireland, with the highlight being the St.Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin. The parade is a spectacle of colour, music, and dance that attracts over half a million visitors annually. This year, the parade will occur on Friday, the 17th of March, from noon until 2 pm. The parade route starts in Dublin City Centre and runs from Parnell Square in the north of the city, down O’Connell Street, over O’Connell Bridge and through the south side of the city, ending at the Cuffe St/Kevin St Junction. No tickets are required for you to attend the parade. Simply pick a spot along the route and enjoy the spectacle and excitement! If you plan to attend the parade, here are some tips on preparing for the event.

Plan Your Trip

If you are travelling to Dublin for the parade, planning your trip in advance is essential. Book your travel and accommodations early, as prices can increase closer to the event. Check the parade route and plan your transportation accordingly, as roads will be closed in the city centre.

Dress Appropriately

It is spring in Ireland, so it may be a little cold and rainy. Dress warmly and wear waterproof clothing and comfortable shoes. Don’t forget your green, though! Consider wearing your favourite green jumper or adding fun green party accessories to your outfit.

Bring A Camera

The parade is a colourful spectacle that you’ll want to capture every moment of it. Bring a camera or smartphone with plenty of storage and battery life, and make sure to charge it fully before heading out.

Arrive Early

The parade route is often crowded, so arriving early to secure a good viewing spot is a good idea. Consider bringing a folding chair or blanket to sit on and snacks and drinks to keep you nourished throughout the day.

Visit the Guinness Storehouse, take a tour of the city’s historic buildings, or enjoy a meal at one of Dublin’s many restaurants.
