Chateau Bellefont Belcier St Emilion Grand Cru Classe 2021

Country: France Region: Bordeaux (Saint-Emilion) Varietal: 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2021 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Château Bellefont-Belcier Description:Château Bellefont-Belcier was bought in 1889 by the Faure family who, through their innovation and hard work, made this estate into one of the jewels of the Bordeaux region. In 1994, it became the property of BJL & Partenaires, opening a new chapter in the life of this Grand Cru Classé, whose facilities were modernized. Château Bellefont-Belcier has passed through several hands in recent years before joining the Vignobles K of Hong Kong's Peter Kwok in 2017. Around twenty hectares in total, the vineyard of Château Bellefont-Belcier, Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion in the Bordeaux region, extends over a clay-limestone hillside and molasse de Fronsadais soils. 95-96/100 Points - James Suckling"This is very complex with super fine, silky tannins that just take off. Full bodied with berry, chocolate and walnut flavours. Mushrooms and cedar, too." 95-97/100 Points - Jeb Dunnuck"An estate that deserves more recognition in the market today, the 2021 Château Bellefont-Belcier comes from a fabulous terroir not far from Larcis Ducasse and Château Pavie. Gorgeous cassis and black raspberry fruits give way to a full-bodied, incredibly elegant 2021 with loads of floral notes, the classic minerality of this terroir, ripe tannins, and blockbuster of a finish. The elegance and purity of this wine paired with its richness and depth are something." 93/100 Points - Decanter"Blackcurrants, rose petals and cocoa powder on the nose. Fresh and slightly tart in a lively way, the fruit and acidity is at the fore giving life and energy. It's light and lean, but doesn't feel as if it's missing the mid-palate depth, it's complete in its way with redcurrants, creamy black cherries, freshly-picked strawberries and a salty, wet stone finish."
