Viralief 50mg/g Cream, a topical treatment specifically formulated for cold sores, utilizes the active ingredient aciclovir to combat the herpes simplex virus. This cream comes in a 2g tube and is designed for direct application to cold sore lesions or areas where an outbreak is imminent. For optimal results, apply five times daily at approximately 4-hour intervals, omitting nighttime applications. The cream should be applied as early as possible after the onset of infection. Treatment should continue for five days, but if healing is not complete, it can be extended for another five days. Each gram of Viralief cream contains 50mg of aciclovir, which is equivalent to 5g of aciclovir per 100 grams of cream. The cream's formulation includes a blend of ingredients: macrogol stearate, dimethicone, cetyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, white soft paraffin, propylene glycol, and purified water. Viralief helps to reduce itching, burning, tingling, and speeds up the healing process when applied early.
