A typical variety from southern Italy, a wine that expresses the scents and aromas of a new Sicily. The peculiarity of Fiano is its sapidity provided by the sea breezes that brush the plants it’s produced from.
The wine is straw-yellow with green reflections. On the nose it has notes of jasmine, basil and grapefruit, sensations of tomato leaf and fresh laurel leaves. On the palate it is minerally and sapid, with scents of aromatic herbs as oregano and mint.
Pair with Cheeses, seafood hors d’oeuvres, rice salads.
Imagine – shortbread and friands, quinces and apricots, lemon zest and ginger, honeysuckle and vanilla bean – a delicious, sweet-scented fragrance of ripe fruit and Asian spices infused with a tarragon-like herbal thread and a faint whiff of wood smoke. Fermented entirely with naturally occurring yeast, this is an alternative style of sauvignon blanc that is both intricate and textural with a rich, succulent palate finishing crisp and long with a flinty dryness
Made by Cloudy Bay's founding wine maker, Kevin Judd, this is a real treat and one of our absolute favourites!
