This brand new appellation is the result of a decade of improvements in the Veneto region for Prosecco production. This is now Prosecco Rosé and it is delicious.
Made from a blend of Glera with Pinot Noir, it shows gorgeous strawberry, apple and pear notes with a delicious creamy mousse.
Bottega are a very large and very successful producer based in the Veneto. Interestingly enough, however, they have only been in existence as a company since the 20th Century and then, set up as a distillery.
Nouveau Riche? Not quite, they were growing very fine grapes since the mid-17th-Century and as a result were able to raise funding for the winery relatively easily and essentially divert the high quality grapes to their own project.
With a flagship product in the shape of the hand-painted gold bottle,(the very first of its kind), and its spin-offs, the future looks to be extremely bright for this house of bubbles.
Country: USA Region: Napa Valley
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2020/21
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Sequoia Grove
Description:Sequoia Grove is one of those great small family-run wineries in the prime Cabernet area of Napa Valley that has managed to remain under the radar. One of the best Cabs we've tasted in this price range, its full of the big tannins and a healthy dose of American Oak that Silver Oak fans love. The grapes come from well-regarded vineyards in the Napa Valley and Sequoia Grove's own estate vineyards in Rutherford.
Tasting Note:Dark red in colour, the initial aromas are of bright black cherry and blackberry, followed by baking spices and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, the wine is intensely flavourful with round and smooth tannins, full of blackberry flavour and subtle toasty vanilla notes. A versatile food wine, the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with any red meat on the grill, pork tenderloin, heavy cheeses and grilled vegetables.
