The Brand Thomas De Monaco is a Swiss-born photographer and creative director who fell in love with perfumery. In 2019 he created a scent for family and friends, intended as a gift. It was a gift so good he was encouraged to launch it as Raw Gold. In 2020 the house was born. A perfume house centred around artistic expression through invisible scent. "Un cœur en Mai" starts with a sappy green citrus mist which enlivens both mind and body before wrapping itself around a clean floral heart that gives centre stage to the intense, somewhat spicy, somewhat grassy, somewhat sweet smell of hyacinth. Delightful fruit notes like melon and mouthpuckeringly tart blackcurrant swirl amongst the flowers, alongside a warm, earthy sprinkle of black pepper and coriander. The base is elegantly spun out of white musk notes and silvery woods, maintaning the luminous, crisp character of the fragrance. Imagine coming back home after a leisurely stroll in the gentle glow of the spring sunshine. You put the key in the lock, open the door and surprise: on the hall table, the plain, heavy crystal vase is filled to the brim with delicate, pink rose buds, purple hyacinths, yellow mimosa pom-poms and virginal lily of the valley. Sunrays are pouring through the open windows, firing up the crystal and the smell fills up the room like a promise of forever happiness.
