Producer: Bodegas Campillo
Description:Campillo arose from a dream of creating a winery surrounded by vineyards, thus transferring the concept of Château to the land of Rioja wine.. An architectural space that opens to the Sierra Cantabria and Laguardia. When you climb the large staircase and cross its doors you feel all that led Julio Faustino Martínez to share his two passions, wine and architecture, in Campillo.
Bodegas Campillo is one of the few examples of the Château model in Rioja. Surrounded by 50 hectares of vineyards and sheltered by the Sierra Cantabria, Bodegas Campillo is located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, in the medieval town of Laguardia.
This is a young fruity style of wine that has only spent 6 months in oak allowing the fruit to be the main focus.
Tasting Notes: Youthful ruby red in appearance, on the nose the dark spicy fruits are to the fore and on the palate there is a soft silkiness that leads to a really pleasant finish.
Food Matches: Try this with tomato-based pasta , I know but it works.
Country: Spain Region: Rioja Varietal: Tempranillo, GracianoCategory: Red Wine Style: DryProducer: Marques De RiscalDescription:This wine has been made using Tempranillo and Graciano grapes from an old vineyard cultivated inside the Finca de Torrea estate it is a “village wine” from Elciego, where the Marqués de Riscal City of Wine is located.
Finca Torrea is a modern-style wine with a very up-to-date profile, more fruit and less herby in character and aged for a shorter time both in the cask and in the bottle. It is a different style to the wines that Marqués de Riscal have traditionally made, not only due to its modern character, but also for the image of its label showing the map of the vineyard plots of the Finca de Torrea, inspired by the line of design marked by the architect Frank Gehry with the Hotel Marqués de Riscal.
Tasting Notes:Cherry-red colour . Spicy, balsamic aromas of great complexity, with notes of ripe dark berries, toast & vanilla.
On the palate it is full and tasty, with good structure and rounded, elegant tannins. The finish is long and fresh, with a slight reminder of the fine oak.
Food Matches: This wine pairs well with all kinds of meat dishes: roasts, grills, stewed with mushrooms, in spicy sauces…
