STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Winemaking starts with all grapes being hand harvested into 18 kilo boxes. Careful cluster sorting, eliminating unsound bunches continues the push toward quality. All varietals are fermented separately with native yeasts. Wine is fermented at a controlled temperature between 12ºC and 15ºC, then aged on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 6 months.
Alejandro Luna is the owner of this moderately sized estate which was founded by his father, Bernardo in 1987. He came to work as director for the family winery in 2001. The philosophy of the winery is to produce wines based on quality of and respect for the land and the local grapes, Godello and Mencia.70 hectares of vines are planted between 450 and 900 meters, on south facing slopes in calcareous clay and decomposed slate. Vines range in age from 20 years to 70 years for Mencia. No herbicides or pesticides are used on the vineyards.
Smooth and Well-Balanced St-Émilion Grand Cru
Dark purple red with violet hue, this wine offers a rich bouquet of ripe black fruits, including blackcurrant and plum, complemented by subtle notes of tobacco, vanilla, and spice. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, with fine tannins and a long, harmonious finish. Ready to drink now but has very good ageing potential.
