Country: France Region: Saint Julien, Bordeaux
Varietal: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc
Vintage: 2011 Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Chateau Leoville-Barton
Description:Leoville Barton 2011 is head and shoulders above its sister offering, Langoa Barton. Although not as backward as I expected given the general style that emerges from Anthony Barton-s beloved St.-Julien estate, this wine will need time in the bottle once it is released in several years. An opaque purple colour is followed by aromas of damp earth, underbrush, black currants, cedar and hints of vanillin and incense. Medium to full-bodied and moderately tannic with good acidity as well as excellent delineation and purity, it should be forgotten for 4-5 years, and drunk over the following two decades.

"Finely expressed intensity of fruit and a firmness of structure over natural aromatic ripeness to give it an assured future. Drink 2017-2035."

"A classic Léoville-Barton that deserves to sell well, this is aromatic and bright, with Asian spices, dark plums and some sweet bramble and cassis flavours framed by fresh acidity and grainy, subtly extracted tannins. Fans of "off vintages" from this reliable château would do well to buy a case or two and cellar it. 10+ years."

"A sleek, refined wine with blueberry, mineral and dried-flower character. Medium to full body with firm tannins. Bright and racy."

"Consistently brilliant quality in recent years and a reasonable pricing policy makes this one of our best selling wines. There is little need for us to recommend Léoville Barton as it has a dedicated following of loyal, regular customers who buy it faithfully every year en primeur. Our only problem is being able to source enough of it to satisfy demand. Always classically st
Country: Chile Region: Central Valley
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Shiraz/Syrah
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Baron Philippe de Rothschild
Description:With traditional grape varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot - this precise and complex Bordeaux-style blend gives a round, fruit-filled wine that reflects the boldness and elegance of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in the Chilean terroir.
Escudo Rojo, a literal Spanish translation of the Rothschild name, has its origins from the Maipo Valley, the historic birthplace of fine Chilean wines. Escudo Rojo gets its refinement from French grape varieties and its power from the magnificent terroir. In a constant quest for perfection, our winegrowers select the best vines there to make and blend this exceptional wine.
Tasting Notes: Escudo Gran Reserva initially boasts a beautifully complex and rich nose with juicy black fruit. After a few minutes in the glass, the Carmenere comes through with a hint of smoke and black pepper. The perfectly balanced oak provides a toasty note of vanilla and coffee bean which wraps around a core of cassis and black cherry. The palate has great concentration and balance whilst delivering enough power to deem this wine full bodied, without being clumsy. After an hour in the decanter this wine is really impressive! Its quality will ensure it develops beautifully in the cellar for a decade to come
